The Schonsee Neighbourhood is located within the Lake District in North Edmonton and is part of the Lago Lindo Community League.
The park site is located at Schonsee Drive NW and 76 Street NW and is 1.8 hectares in size
Our vision is to create a community gathering place that is healthy, safe, and stimulating for all generations. Our mission is more than just building a park and playground; it is about inspiring members of our community to become leaders and volunteers. It is also instilling hope in our community that through working together we can achieve great things.
How did we come up with a plan?
In December 2013, we went door to door in the Schonsee neighbourhood to conduct a survey to see what the residents wanted for the park and playground space. This survey is called the /needs-assessment. It established the “Need” of the community from the community members. It ensures that we design a park based on the community’s wishes. We gave residents the option to complete the survey with us while we were there, or to complete the survey online. Residents that were not home were left a letter with an online link to the survey in their door or mailbox. We were able to gather information from 113 residents.
- The land allotted for the park is located at 76 Street and Schonsee Drive. The City of Edmonton has established this space with the developers. It is stated to include 1.8 hectares of space.
